A Natural Food Recipe for Granola

Here's a natural food recipe that makes a wonderful, nutritious breakfast and healthy snack: Granola made from soaked grains.

Proper preparation of whole grains is important for adequate assimilation of nutrients as well as optimal digestion. Soak flour and sprout grains for all bread and flour products for optimal health.
Natural Granola ingredients:

  • 6 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups 7 grain mix
  • 3/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups whole yogurt
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dried shredded coconut
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup minced dried figs (optional)
  • 1 cup nuts (optional)


Mix oats and grains with the melted butter and oil, yogurt and water in a large bowl. Cover with a cloth and a plate and allow to sit at cool room temperature for two days. After the soaking time, preheat the oven to 200° F (93° C).

Place honey, maple syrup, cinnamon and vanilla in a glass measuring cup in a small pot of warm water on the stove. Bring water to a gentle simmer, stirring honey mixture, until honey becomes thin.

Combine honey and oat mixtures, mixing to incorporate.

Spread mixture out over two parchment paper-lined cookie sheets. Bake for 2-4 hours, until granola is dry and crisp. (Turn this into a soft granola recipe by experimenting with the drying time.)

Mix in coconut, raisins, sunflower seeds, figs and nuts.

Store in an airtight container. Serve with chilled raw milk. Enjoy!

My husband, who won't eat the oatmeal porridge my children love for breakfast, really enjoys this granola. I try to make a batch at least once a month to have on hand, but it gets eaten quickly.

You can experiment with adding dried cranberries or other dried fruit if desired.
